Southampton Counselling and Therapy Centre
Funding
As well as client contributions, SCTC currently relies on a number of sources to support its work:
Jan Craig Memorial Fund
SCTC administers the JCMF and facilitates the bi-annual conference held in her name.
For 15 years until her death in April 2001, Jan Craig had been active in working for disadvantaged people. She helped set up the Southampton Well Woman Centre and was instrumental in its development to SCTC. Jan was one of the main trainers at SCTC and responsible for ensuring that the volunteer counselling provision was of a high standard so that people on a low income had access to a good service. This dedication to quality therapy remains a central aim of the organisation.
The JCMF raises funds to support this aim, to provide a forum for discussing issues of mental and social well-being which so concerned Jan, and to promote dialogue between the different professions addressing them.
Other funders have included:
Southampton City Council's Communities and Regeneration Portfolio, Neighbourhood Grant, Community Benefit Fund and Primary Care Trust; Eastleigh Borough Council Community Grant; Lottery Awards for All; client contributions to costs and general and anonymous donations.
