About counselling and psychotherapy
The following are some of the many reasons why people may decide to come for counselling or psychotherapy:
- relationship problems;
- difficulty in adjusting to recent experiences (divorce, bereavement, redundancy);
- feeling ill at ease or discontented, whether at work, socially or within the family;
- fearing that feelings such as anger, sadness or emptiness may overwhelm you;
- depression and anxiety
- traumas, past and present
Our past experiences can have a powerful, unconscious effect on the way we feel and deal with things in our present lives and some problems may have deeper roots than others.
Psychodynamic counselling and psychotherapy give you the chance to explore your difficulties with a trained therapist, in confidence and at your own pace. This is not a short process and requires commitment over a period of time. However, coming to a better understanding of our feelings can make them easier to manage.
